UT-06 - Hemkund lake(14200 FT.)

Day 1

Report at Rishikesh.

Report at Rishikesh. Report in the hotel/guest house at Rishikesh in the afternoon.Issue of equipment like rucksacks, sleeping bags, carry mats etc.Overnight in hotel/guest house.

Day 2

Rishikesh - Joshimath

Rishikesh - Joshimath (Drive : 245 km.)  Drive to Joshimath via Devprayag. On the way visit Devprayag where Bhagirathi andAlaknanda rivers meet.Arrival  Joshimath in the evening,Overnight in the hotel/guest house

Day 3

Joshimath - Govindghat

Joshimath - Govindghat drive: 22 km Trek:- Govindghat to  Ghangaria:- 14 km. Drive to Govindghat and start the trek . A gradual ascent along a well maintained pilgrim trail to Ghangaria. Reach in the afternoon. Overnight in hotel/ guesthouse/ camping. Explore the surroundings in the evening.

Day 4

Ghangaria - Valley Of Flowers - Ghangria 10 Km. both side

Trek :Ghangaria - Valley Of Flowers - Ghangria 10 Km. both side
 Trek to Valley Of Flowers (3858 m) involves gradual climb. The valley is an enchanting sight with an impressive array of rare wildflowers like Geranium, Marsh marigold, Prinula, Potentilla, Geum, Asters, Lilium, Ranunculus, Corydalis, Inula, Pedicularis, Arisaema, Morina, Impatiens, Bistorta, Ligularia, Anaphalis, Saxifrages, Sibbaldia, Thermo- psis, Trollius, Codonopsis, Dactylorhiza, Cypripedium, Str- awberry, Epilobium, Rhododendrons and numerous others. The valley is 10 km long, 2 km wide, and is divided by the Pushpawati stream, into which several tiny streams and waterfalls merge. Back to Ghangharia in the afternoon. Overnight in the guest house/camping.

Day 5

Ghanghria- Hemkund 12 Km.both side.

Ghanghria- Hemkund 12 Km.both side. Start early morning trek  toHemkund lake  (4329 m) from Ghangaria involves moderate to steep ascent  The  lake is  surrounded by seven snowcapped mountains. Back to Ghangharia . Afterlunch trek back to Govindghat for overnight stay in guest house/camping.

Day 6

GovindGhat

Trek to GovindGhat and transfer to Badrinath. Trek 13 Km. Transfer 25 Km. Overnight in guest house

Day 7

After breakfast transfer  to Rishikesh. Reach in the afternoon. Overnight in guest house.

Day 8

Programme concludes after breakfast.
